Rivercrest Junior High Prep Academy Principal William Burfield, Academic Facilitator Cyndy Henderson, and teachers Addie Pittman, Heather Lucius, and Morgan Lawrence attended the APSRC conference in Hot Springs. While there, they attended sessions on educations, leadership, technology, and policy. They learned information, strategies, and techniques to enhance student learning and increase rigor and student engagement. During the Innovation Expo at the conference, they also presented Rivercrest’s new charter school goals and successes with attendees. Secretary of Education Oliva kicked off the conference with a welcome address before turning it over to keynote speaker Dr. Carey Wright.
Mrs. Dina's class competed in Bowling Special Olympics at Hijinx in Jonesboro. They won 8 medals! Volunteers that helped today were Jackson Ephlin and Dakotoa Rinderer.
Pre-K students enjoyed a crisp fall day at Cedar Hill Farm.
Sixth grade students that reached their AR goal for the first nine weeks were rewarded today. They joined Mrs. Elrod’s Medical Detective class for dissections of cow eyes and sheep hearts and lungs.
James Simpson, Callie Wren Fincher, and William Beckett were chosen as the ANC Early College All Star students this semester. They were nominated by their ANC instructors for being exceptional students in their college courses.

After an INSANE season with nothing short of 100% work and 100% effort, the Rivercrest Marching Band attended the ASBOA State Marching Contest at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, to compete against ALL participating 4A schools that qualified for state.
Next time you see a Rivercrest Band student, congratulate them on being the 2023 4A STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!
With a superior rating, the highest music score of the day, and the highest overall score, the students bring home the gold. We could NOT be more proud of these students, and what a way to send the seniors off for their last marching season!
The Colts put together a complete game on their way to a mercy-rule enacting win on the road at Trumann, 49-14.
RB Koby Turner made guys miss, broke tackles, and outran the Trumann defense on his way to a huge game finishing with 9 carries for 191 yards and 4TDs. Cavonta Washington was 9/12 for 103 yards and 2 TDs and ran 4 times for 44 yards. Jayden Young replaced Washington at quarterback in the 2nd half and ran twice for 74 yards including a 62 yard run for a TD. Michael Rainer snagged 5 passes for 54 yards and a score and grabbed a 2-point conversion. Washington also hooked up with Jakavion Williams for a 23 yard scoring pass. Josh Johnson connected on 5 extra points.
The Colt defense was led by Wyatt Lancaster who finished with 13 tackles. Tekylun Sanders notched 10 tackles and 2 big sacks. Marcus Slayton had 9 stops.
The Colts improve to 7-2,6-0 on the year and set up a big match-up next Friday night against Blytheville. The winner will be the #1 seed in the 4A-3 conference and the loser will go into the playoffs as the #2 seed. GO COLTS!

Mrs. Ashley’s class had some fall fun learning about the inside of pumpkins and creating a jack-o-lantern.
Mrs. Cain's child development class has been learning about safe toys and healthy meals for babies and toddlers. This week and last they had the opportunity to create their own. Here are some of their awesome creations!

Ashlie Benson's AP Environmental Science class is studying soil profiles. They created soil profiles for different biomes in order to better understand how disturbances affect the biomes in relation to primary and secondary succession.
Rivercrest seniors attended the Arkansas Northeastern College College Fair. They also enjoyed the activities on campus for student appreciation day.
Students in Mrs. Elrod's Medical Detective class created stop motion videos to show the path of a signal through neurons in the brain. Students had to create a model of a brain neuron and investigate how input and output signals are transmitted in the human body.
