The SMC Colts football program would like to give a huge thank you to all of the Rivercrest students who helped at the games today. They ran the concession stand, helped with the cleanup of the stands and worked chains during the game. There’s no way it could have been done without them!

The Colts will face an always formidable foe in the 5A East Valley View Blazers. Kickoff is set for 7pm. The Colts dropped to 1-1 on the young season after coming up short in a shootout against an ultra-athletic Mills team in Little Rock last Friday. After Valley View lost their opener 51-35 to Arkansas high school power Harding Academy, the Blazers bounced back with a stifling defensive effort in a 16-2 win over Poplar Bluff, MO. Although Harding Academy did most of their damage against Valley View through the air, the Blazer defense kept consistent pressure on the quarterback all night. That defense is led by 6’3” 225lb junior linebacker Brian Huff. Huff holds multiple D1 offers from Arkansas, Arkansas St., and Memphis. Huff also reeled in and returned the pick-6 against the Colts late in the game last season to give the Blazers the lead and helped seal the 26-19 Valley View win. Valley View is led on offense by junior dual-threat QB Carson Turley. Last Friday, Turley threw for 180yds and 2TDs and ran for 62yds. His favorite target is 6’5” wideout Jackson Harmon who had 72yds and a TD against the Colts a year ago. RB Slade Caldwell is a plus for Valley View in the backfield. He ran 22 times for 90yds last Friday night. The Colts come in averaging 390 yards of offense per game with 258 of those coming on the ground. The Colt ground game has been led by junior RB Koby Turner who has churned out 100+yd rushing games in each of Rivercrest’s first two contests. Turner has rushed for 235yds and 4TDs on the season while averaging right at 9 yards per carry. Cavonta Washington and Michael Rainer have taken turns at the helm for the Colts at QB. On defense, the Colts have been led by LB Marcus Slayton, DT Trent Kimbrough, and DE Wyatt Lancaster. It’s going to be a great night of Rivercrest football. Come out to The TEZ and cheer on the red and gray! GO COLTS!

LIVESTREAM: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjBCN80mCUa2yIohywWas4g The Colts make the long trip to Little Rock this evening to face off against Mills University Studies High School at Comet Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7pm. Your Colts got a mark in the win column after outscoring Manila 47-12 last Friday night. The Colts put up 492 yards of offense while just allowing 66 yards. The Colts were 12 of 13 through the air for 193 yards and racked up 269 rushing yards on 34 attempts. Sophomore QB Cavonta Washington had a great debut as the starter going a perfect 8/8 for 146yds and 3TDs through the air and added a rushing TD. Michael Rainer had 5 catches for 100yds and 2TDs and finished with a whopping 301 all-purpose yards. RB Koby Turner had a score to go with 117yds rushing. The Colts' defense was led by DT Trent Kimbrough who finished with 13 tackles, 5 TFL, and a sack. It’s great to start the season 1-0, but the trek through the non-conference schedule for the Colts doesn’t get any easier having to face an absolutely stacked Mills team. Mills, who moved from 4A to 5A this season, has talent everywhere with size and speed to spare. Mills throttled Forrest City last week 58-12 and had 2 touchdowns called back. Junior QB Achilles Ringo (6’3” 210lbs) was 10/12 passing for 279 yards and 3TDs. Ringo threw for over 2,300 yards and 17TDs as a sophomore. Jabrae Shaw had 3 catches for 72 yards, ran for 2TDs, and scored 2 defensive TDs. Due to injury, Shaw only played in 7 games last season, and still finished with nearly 1,000 rushing yards, 550 yards receiving, and 19TDs. WR Anton Pierce had 2 catches for 84 yards and a score. The Comets were led in rushing by RB Daniel Brown. DE Derrick Murdoch had 10 tackles, 5 TFL, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. DL Charleston Collins had 9 tackles, 4 TFL, and a sack. The Comets feature 3 athletes with D1 offers led by 6’5” 265lb Junior DT/DE Charleston Collins. Collins is a 4* athlete who currently holds 20 D1 collegiate offers and that list seems to grow each week. Collins is rated the #2 player in the state of Arkansas, #25 defensive lineman in the country, and the #271 player in the nation overall. He holds offers from schools like Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miami, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, and more. RB/Slot Receiver, Jabrae Shaw (6’0” 205lbs) holds 5 D1 offers and is currently committed to UCA. Big-time WR, Anton Pierce (6’3” 207lbs), has 3 D1 offers and is committed to Army. This is the first time in school history that these teams have played. Buckle up and get ready for a great night of high school football. GO COLTS!
