IT’S GAME DAY and a long-time rivalry will be renewed this evening as your Rivercrest Colts make the 13 mile trip to Osceola for an inside track to the 3A-3 conference championship and a 1 seed in the state playoffs.
The Colts are 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference after hammering Walnut Ridge last week 51-20. QB Cavonta Washington was stellar in that game going 21/30 for 416 yards and 6TDs. On the season, Washington has completed 71% of his passes for 1,604 yards and 22TDs. He’s run for 640 yards and 7 more scores. WR Buddah Harris has 34 receptions for 629 yards and 8TDs. Jayden Young has rushed for 239 yards and 6TDs and has caught 25 passes for 419 yards and 7TDs. Jakavion Williams has 22 receptions for 346 yards and 4TDs. Keiran Morris has 13 catches for 204 yards and 3TDs. Young leads the Colt defense with 48 tackles and 5 INTs. Nolan Williams (42 tackles), Andrew Lomack (41 tackles 8TFL), and Morris (40 tackles) round out the defensive leaders.
Osceola has been great on the year as they sit at 5-1 overall and 4-0 in conference. Their lone loss came to Ensworth Academy in Nashville, TN. QB Tyler Bell has thrown for 731 yards and 4TDs and has run for 252 yards and 4 more. Sophomore QB Johnny Spears got the start last week going 11/15 for 178 yards and 2TDs. The Seminoles have had a great rushing attack as of late behind the talent of running back Jeremiah Jacobs who has run for 590 yards and 5TDs (394 yards and 4TDs in the last 2 games). Jacobs has also caught 12 passes for 170 yards and a TD. ATH M.J. Washington has run for 193 yards and 5TDs and has caught 9 passes for 208 yards and 3TDs. Anthony Brown has 18 receptions for 201 yards and 1TD. Aiden Haymon has 10 catches for 175 yards and a score. Jacobs also leads a stifling defense with 58 tackles. Demarius Hackett and Zaden Buchanan have 36 and 25 tackles respectively while Spears has 4INTs as a defensive back.
The Colts lead the all-time series 28-20. Both teams are in the hunt for the 3A-3 conference championship. Make plans to join us at Seminole Stadium to cheer on the red and gray. GO COLTS!

The Rivercrest library received a generous donation by Marion Erwin of Blytheville. Books about Arkansas and books by authors from Arkansas were purchased with the donated money. The administration, Mrs. Lancaster, and the students of Rivercrest would like to thank Ms. Erwin for investing in our school library.

Students in Mrs. Lancaster’s Character Counts classes are studying responsibility. They’re learning as citizens of the US we have civic duties and civic responsibilities. Each student was assigned a specific duty or responsibility to research and create a poster. Students will present their finished product.

Congratulations to Jaxon Kilburn on his acceptance to Arkansas State University.

Mrs. Dina’s Reading Rainbows listened to the read aloud, A Skeleton for Dinner by Margery Cuyler and then painted monsters with forks! Students added special touches to make their monsters unique.

Ms. Britton's Anatomy and Physiology classes are studying tissues and skin. This week they did a wound lab and made different types of wounds!

Students in Mrs. Elrod’s Medical Detective class dissected sheep brains today as part of their unit on the nervous system.

Mr. Stoddard’s Plant Science class has been studying soil formation and water holding capacity. Today the class created an experiment to investigate the water holding characteristics of common potting mediums compared to Rivercrest sod and topsoil. Let’s just say, don’t be suckered in by a name brand.

7th - 12th Grade Parents/Guardians,
Any student who has not had a handbook and Google Apps acknowledgement form completed for them will be coming home with a form to complete this week. The physical copy can be completed, signed, and returned with your student or you can complete this form online via the link or QR code below.
Completion of this form by October 31st is very important. On that date any student who has not had this completed, will lose access to their Google Account, per the new requirement by Google to have a parent consent on file. This means the student will not have access to log into their Chromebook or complete any work using any Google Apps.
Thank you for your understanding and prompt completion of this form. http://bit.ly/rhshandbook2024

The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education has prepared guides for parents or guardians which outline essential learning targets for students in grades K-8 for literacy, science, math, and social studies. You may print out these guides and post them on the refrigerator or keep one in the car for road trips. The learning target guides also have companion guides which provide one or more activities for each learning target. https://sites.google.com/pdarkansas.net/desebacktoschoolplaybook/home

This week is National School Bus Safety Week. Help us keep our students safe by observing these safety rules!
-School safety starts at the bus stop. Share these tips with your children:
Arrive at the bus stop five minutes early.
Stand five giant steps away from the curb.
Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says it’s okay before stepping onto the bus.
Be sure the bus driver can always see you, and you can see the bus driver.
-Yellow lights on a school bus indicate the bus is preparing to stop. If you’re driving, slow down, stay alert, and watch out for children.
-See the school bus stop-arm? Time to STOP. Racing past the arm puts young lives in jeopardy.
-School in session means more children are outside waiting for the bus during certain hours. Slow down and watch for children playing and gathering near the bus stop.
