Savanna Chavez organized a stuffed animal drive to benefit children in MIssissippi County. Under a new graduation requirement created by the ADE, starting with all current AR freshmen, students have to complete 75 community service hours by graduation. Students in Mrs. McClung's Keystone class have researched their local communities and talked about the needs of those communities. Savanna decided she wanted to collect stuffed animals to offer some comfort to local children. She presented her idea to her teacher as a community service project for her Keystone class period. Along with her first period classmates, she created posters, hung them around the school, and set up boxes for drop off locations. With help from CPL Andrea Street, SRO officers from the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office, LT Jay Bohannan, and CPT David Gladden visited the class and accepted toys. They will be distributed to officers in Mississippi County to give comfort to children they encounter on calls.

As we approach our winter weather season, please be advised that provisions in the LEARNS Act no longer allow AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) days to count towards the required days of instruction for public schools in Arkansas. Any days missed for inclement weather or emergencies must be made up as onsite instruction. The Rivercrest School District school calendar has potential snow days scheduled at the end of the school year.

The Colts advance to the second round of the 4A State Playoffs after blanking Mena at The TEZ, 36-0. After creating a turnover deep in Mena territory, Marcus Slayton punched in the first touchdown from a yard out to put the Colts up 6-0. Wyatt Lancaster made it 8-0 when he sacked Mena's Sean Sullivan in the endzone for a safety. Rivercrest's last score in the first quarter came on a 15 yard scamper over the left side by quarterback Cavonta Washington. Slayton walked in on the two-point to give the Colts a 16-0 advantage. Koby Turner found paydirt from 8 yards out to push the lead to 22-0. Mena returned an interception to the 13 yard line. After a few plays, the Bearcats were facing a 4th down at the 18 yard line. The Bearcats were looking to punch through a field goal before half, but Lancaster spoiled their opportunity by blocking the attempt preserving the 22-0 halftime lead. Rivercrest would tack on two long second half touchdowns followed by Josh Johnson extra points to set the final. Washington found Buddah Harris on a slant that Harris took to the house from 46 yards out. Then Koby Turner made one guy miss and outran the Mena defense for an 88 yard touchdown. Turner had 10 carries for 134 yards and 2TDs and had a 60 yard TD run called back. Buddah Harris snagged 6 passes for 102 yards and a score. Cavonta Washington went 13/19 for 185 yards and a TD and added a rushing TD. Lancaster and Slayton led the Colt defense with 8 tackles each. Lancaster stuffed the stat sheet by adding 3 TFL, 2 QB hurries, a sack, a blocked kick, and a safety. Tekylun Sanders and Andrew Lomack had 6 tackles and a sack each. Keiran Morris forced a fumble that Turner recovered and Jayden Young had an interception. This is the Colts first playoff shutout since a first round 43-0 win over Cedarville in 2015. The Colts will be back in action next Friday night at The TEZ as they'll host Gravette in the second round. Gravette hammered Stuttgart tonight 55-10. Join us next Friday. GO COLTS!

Congratulations to Hunter Ellis. He was selected to be the recipient of a dozen duck decoys from Arkansas Game and Fish. Hunter was chosen from a pool of students who submitted applications. Students were selected based on the need for decoys. If selected, they must agree to take one person that has never been on a duck hunt and send photos to AGFC. Ms. Kimble from FLW Nature Center in Jonesboro was present to make the presentation.

Amarian Lofton and Carty Smith demonstrated an act of kindness on a recent senior trip. These students witnessed a young man that was sitting in a booth by himself at a restaurant. On their own they walked over to him and invited him to sit at their table.
