For the second time in as many weeks, the Colts shutout their opponent to advance in the 4A state playoffs. This week, Rivercrest blanked Gravette 40-0 to push the Colts into the state quarterfinals.
Koby Turner put on a show scoring four touchdowns in the game. Turner ran 14 times for 124 yards and 3 scores and hauled in a pass for a touchdown. Michael Rainer had a big night also. Rainer hauled in 4 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown and had an electrifying score on a punt return from 89 yards out. For good measure, he intercepted a pass on defense. Cavonta Washington went 17/21 for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Colts were led on defense by Tekylun Sanders who notched 9 tackles with 4 of those going for a loss. Jayden Young grabbed 2 interceptions and had an 103 yard interception return erased by a penalty just before half. Quinshunn Perry had 7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss. Marcus Slayton had 6 tackles and an interception. Wyatt Lancaster and Keiran Morris added 6 tackles each.
The Rivercrest defense has pitched back-to-back shutouts in the playoffs. The only other time in school history that happened was 2003 when the Colts beat Mountain View (39-0) and Ozark (31-0).
The Colts will travel to Arkadelphia for a rematch of last year's state quarterfinals matchup. If you can't make the trip, we'll have all the action for you live on Rivercrest Athletics. GO COLTS!

Savanna Chavez organized a stuffed animal drive to benefit children in MIssissippi County. Under a new graduation requirement created by the ADE, starting with all current AR freshmen, students have to complete 75 community service hours by graduation.
Students in Mrs. McClung's Keystone class have researched their local communities and talked about the needs of those communities. Savanna decided she wanted to collect stuffed animals to offer some comfort to local children. She presented her idea to her teacher as a community service project for her Keystone class period. Along with her first period classmates, she created posters, hung them around the school, and set up boxes for drop off locations.
With help from CPL Andrea Street, SRO officers from the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office, LT Jay Bohannan, and CPT David Gladden visited the class and accepted toys. They will be distributed to officers in Mississippi County to give comfort to children they encounter on calls.

As we approach our winter weather season, please be advised that provisions in the LEARNS Act no longer allow AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) days to count towards the required days of instruction for public schools in Arkansas. Any days missed for inclement weather or emergencies must be made up as onsite instruction. The Rivercrest School District school calendar has potential snow days scheduled at the end of the school year.
