IT’S GAMEDAY and your Rivercrest Colts will make the trip to Arkadelphia to take on 4A’s #1 team in the 4A State Quarterfinals. Kickoff is slated for 7pm.
It’s hard to come up with enough adjectives to describe just how good this Arkadelphia football team is. The Badgers were ranked #1 in the preseason and have kept that rank with a perfect 10-0 record. They’ve reach this spot by dispatching of Clinton (49-21) and Ozark (52-21). That explosive Badger offense is averaging right at 47 points/game. Senior QB Donovan Whitten (6’3” 220) has thrown for over 450 yards and 9TDs in the past two weeks and has completed 64% of his passes for 2,363 yards and 36TDs with just 2 interceptions on the season. He’s also rushed for 436 yards and 6 more scores. Soph running back Kyle Reed leads the team with 457 rushing yards and 11TDs. Senior speedster LaTonnieo Hughes has 34 catches for 622 yards and 12TDs. Senior wideouts Tripp Campbell (30-488 9TDs), Carter Babb (35-477 7TDs), Evan Bailey (22-331 3TDs), and Ja’Quavus Purifoy (22-292 2TDs) round out the receiving corp. The Badger defense is led by DB Nick Williams (73 tackles), LB Marveon Berry (68 tackles), and LB Chase Vantilborg (64 tackles). Kelbern Middleton has 5 interceptions.
The Colts are 9-3 after beating Gentry (42-21) and Star City (49-42) to reach the Quarterfinals. The Colts have reached the Quarterfinals 6 out of the past 7 seasons. The Rivercrest offense is putting up 42.6 points/game. All-purpose junior Michael Rainer has tallied 9TDs in the last 2 weeks. Rainer has 46 catches for 961 yards and 15TDs and has rushed for 732 yards and 10 TDs. Soph QB Cavonta Washington has completed 66.7% of his passes for 1,597 yards and 17TDs with just 3INTs and has rushed for 427 yards and 5TDs. Jaden Stovall has 288 receiving yards and 4 scores and has rushed for 238 yards and 2 more TDs. Junior RB Koby Turner has rushed for 1,085 yards and 20TDs. LB Marcus Slayton (133 tack, 26 TFL, 4INTs), DE Wyatt Lancaster (120 tack, 31 TFL, 15 QB hurries, 9 sacks), DT Trent Kimbrough (92 tack, 25 TFL, 2.5 sacks) have led the Colt defense. Turner, Stovall, and Austin Elrod have added 76, 55, and 54 tackles respectively.
Make the trip to Arkadelphia, get loud, and cheer on the red and gray. GO COLTS!

Football practice on Thanksgiving — a Rivercrest tradition! You know it’s a great season when you’re practicing on this day. From our family to yours — Happy Thanksgiving!

Good Luck to Rivercrest Cheer as they compete at Jonesboro High School today in their last competition of the regular season!

Rivercrest High School Freshman Academy students in Mrs. McClung's Keystone class planned a menu for their dream Thanksgiving dinner. They then had a mock online shopping trip, and figured out sales tax. The students then, using the average hourly wage for Osceola, figured out how many hours they would have to work to pay for their dream meal. The students gained not only budgeting insight, but practice planning all components for a meal.

Eighth grade science students designed safety systems to help direct the energy of a vehicle crash away from the driver/passenger in a vehicle. The students had to build a device to protect an egg when dropped as part of their design.

IT’S GAMEDAY as we enter the 2nd round of the 4A State Playoffs tonight at The TEZ. The competition ramps way up as the Colts get set to battle Star City at 7pm.
The Star City Bulldogs are the 2 seed out of the always tough 4A-8 conference. The Bulldogs are 10-1 on the season after hammering Trumann last Friday 35-7. Their lone loss came to eventual 4A-8 champion Warren, 28-27. Star City is capable of throwing the ball but prefers to do their damage on the ground. They run multiple sets from the wing-T to the I-formation to some spread. Their backfield has been highly productive led by 6’2” 210lb senior running back C.J. Turner, 6’1” 205lb senior quarterback Mason Taylor, and 5’10” 170lb sophomore running back Peyton Taylor. With size and speed to spare, nine of their eleven starters on offense are seniors.
The Colts are the 2 seed out of the 4A-3 conference and are 8-3 on the year after smacking Gentry last week 42-21. The Colts' three losses came to one of the top 4A teams and 2 of the top 5A schools. Sophomore QB Cavonta Washington has completed 69.2% of his passes for 1,405 yards and 14TDs and has rushed for 411 yards and 5TDs. All-purpose junior Michael Rainer has caught 42 passes for 812 yards and 12TDs along with rushing for 677 yards and 8 more scores. Rainer ran for a career-high 239 yards last week vs. Gentry. Junior running back Koby Turner, who has been out since the first quarter of the week 10 game, has run for 1,015 yards and 19TDs. In his stead, senior back T.J. Scott has been productive. Scott has rushed for 228 yards and 3TDs while averaging 11.4 yards/carry. Junior linebacker Marcus Slayton and defensive end Wyatt Lancaster have put together some of the best seasons by Colt defenders. Slayton has 122 tackles, 23 TFL, 1.5 sacks, and 3 interceptions. Lancaster has 112 tackles, 29 TFL (2nd best in school history), 15 QB hurries, and 8 sacks.
Star City leads the all-time series 2-1. The Colts are 1-1 in the series at home and won the only playoff game against the Bulldogs, 28-14 in 2002. The last time these schools played was in 2007.
The theme is “Hunting for a Win” so wear your camo, bundle up, and come cheer on your Colts tonight. LET’S GO RED!

Congrats to the Jr. Colts on winning the Jack Moore Tournament at Valley View over MacArthur 49-32. GO COLTS!!!

The Colts blasted Blytheville last week 49-20 to finish the regular season with a 7-3 record and represent the 4A-3 as the #2 seed. Sophomore QB Cavonta Washington has thrown for 1,312 yards and 14 TDs with just 3 INTs and has rushed for 353 yards and 5TDs. Junior RB Koby Turner has rushed for 1,015 yards and 19TDs. Do-it-all junior athlete Michael Rainer is one of the best wideouts in 4A. He has 38 receptions for 769 yards and 12TDs and has rushed for 438 yards and 4TDs. Senior wideout Jaden Stovall has 26 catches for 247 yards and 4TDs. Make plans to be at The TEZ this evening to cheer on the red and gray. GO COLTS!

Two Rivercrest juniors, Eli Ezekiel and Mercuriah Vance, were selected to serve on Senator John Boozman’s Congressional Youth Cabinet. This will provide the selected high school students in Arkansas with an opportunity to influence the policy making process and better understand how Congress works. The goal of this program is to foster a lifetime commitment to civic engagement and public service. This Congressional Youth Cabinet is a nonpartisan initiative that will expose students to the importance of the legislative process and ways that citizens can get involved. Members of the cabinet will also have the opportunity to provide Senator Boozman with their own ideas about solving current issues facing young Americans. Youth cabinet members will serve a one-year term. Their term will be served with other selected students within their Congressional District. Eli and Mercuriah attended their first meeting today in Little Rock.
