The Osceola/South Mississippi County Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual school testing snack drive! Donations will be taken until April 1 at the Chamber of Commerce (116 N. Maple Osceola). Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 174 Osceola, AR 72370. All donations are greatly appreciated and will be of great help to our area students during their standardized testing! 7th and 8th grade students in Mrs. Lancaster’s library class spent the month of February learning about influential Black Americans. They created quilt pieces to help them learn about people such as Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass, and Harriet Tubman.


Mrs. Mofield's kindergarten students enjoyed reviewing their spelling words by playing Spelling Word Headbands.






Lady Colts Softball got out to a four-run lead in the third inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over Gosnell.
The Lady Colts knotted the game up at one in the top of the second inning. Annabelle Chandler hit a solo homer. They pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Chesnee Chandler singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, Mary Jo Booker singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Laynee Gardner was the winning pitcher for Rivercrest. The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out one and walking zero.
The Lady Colts smacked one home run on the day. Chandler had a dinger in the second inning.
Rivercrest tallied ten hits in the game. Raven Powell, Karlee Cullom, and Booker each collected multiple hits for Rivercrest Lady Colts Varsity. Booker, Cullom, and Powell each managed two hits.


Congratulations to Rivercrest freshman Jayden Young on being named to the 3A State Basketball Tournament All-Tournament Team! Young averaged over 27 points/per game in the tournament. #ColtPride

Rivercrest School District is aware of a threat made by an elementary student. We have collected information and do not believe there is any danger at this time. The student is not present and our ongoing safety protocols are in place. All exterior doors of our campus are locked down at all times. No visitors are allowed unless admitted by the front offices. Our classrooms are newly equipped with door locks that are secure throughout the day. Additionally, our school cameras are monitored continuously.
Rivercrest School District has made great strides in improving our security on our campus. Again the safety of our children is the highest priority at all times. We consider all threats seriously and the proper actions will take place. We will continue to monitor the issue. If any credibility should arise, we will investigate the matter to the fullest and keep our parents aware. If you should have any additional concerns, please reach out to one of the elementary administrators.

The Rivecrest Colts ran off with the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory over Buffalo Island Central on Tuesday. The game was tied at three with Rivecrest batting in the bottom of the fifth when the Colts scored one run on a stolen base.
The Colts earned the victory despite allowing Buffalo Island Central to score three runs in the third inning. They opened up scoring in the first inning. Ian McClain drove in two when he singled.
Rivecrest tallied five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Kevin Morris, McClain, and Jaxon Kilburn, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Austin Elrod led things off on the pitcher's mound for the Colts. Elrod allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out four.


The Rivercrest Lady Colts built a nine-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off West Memphis Blue Devils’ charge for a 10-8 victory on Tuesday. They earned the victory despite allowing West Memphis to score five runs in the fifth inning.
In the second inning, the Lady Colts got their offense started when Williams induced Molli Austin to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. They put up six runs in the fifth inning, led by a walk by Karlee Cullom, a single by Maggie Hensley, a sac fly by Chesnee Chandler, and a fielder's choice by Austin.
Laynee Gardner got the start and lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out seven. The Lady Colts Varsity tallied ten hits in the game. Cullom, Taylor Routledge, and Addison Woodward each managed multiple hits. Cullom led with three hits in three at bats.

The Rivecrest Colts score more runs than Nettleton and take victory on Monday to the tune of 4-3.
The Colts pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Conner Vaughn doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Ian McClain singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
Vaughn toed the rubber for Rivecrest. The lefthander surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out three.
The Colts collected seven hits. Austin Elrod, McClain, and Vaughn all managed multiple hits with two each.

The Colts continue to roll and reach the 3A State Semifinals after taking down Lakeside 61-54. Freshman Jayden Young led the red and gray with a game high 30 points. We play a stout Bergman team at 7:30pm tomorrow, Saturday, March 4th. GO COLTS!


Mrs. Lloyd's kindergarten class had a special guest reader today. Aaron Lucius, Maverick's dad, read to the class as part of Career Day for Read Across America Week.
