Rivercrest FFA members participated in the 2024 NEA District Fair Youth Judging Competitions recently. Tractor Driving and Livestock Judging were the focus this round. Senior FFA members Annabelle Tucker and Carson Ellis provided premiere leadership in supporting their teams. Congratulations to Carson for placing 2nd overall in the Tractor Driving competition sponsored by the Cooperative Extension. Freshman Addison Ellis is pictured waiting for the hog class to be placed. Sophomore Addison Johnson (AJ), Addison Ellis, and Annabelle Tucker can be seen in the news clip from KAIT8 news regarding the Livestock judging competition. Also pictured are 8th graders Kayden Pope and Dakota Griggs showing off their tractor driving skills. Before leaving, Carson and Dakota took the opportunity to learn about the camel traveling with the petting zoo.

𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗢𝗡 𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗦: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjBCN80mCUa2yIohywWas4g IT’S GAME DAY! Hurricane Helene is introducing herself to Northeast Arkansas in the form of a lot of wind and rain. No way around it, it’s going to be a messy game tonight as your Colts travel to Harrisburg for their 3A-3 conference opener. Kickoff is slated for 7pm. The Colts moved to 3-0 after besting Forrest City in a shootout last Friday, 48-34. QB Cavonta Washington has been stellar this year having thrown for 580 yards 8TDs and having rushed for 346 yards and 4TDs. His performance last week propelled him as Rivercrest’s all-time leading passer. All-around athlete, Jayden Young, is coming off a 5TD game (3 rushing, 1 receiving, 1 interception return). He’s averaging 11.3 yards/carry with 192 rushing yards and 3TDs. He also has 153 receiving yards and 2 more scores. Match-up problem, Buddah Harris, continues to impress and currently has 253 receiving yards and 4TDs. Jakavion Williams got time at the running back spot last week and did not disappoint. Williams has been a threat with the ball in his hands no matter where he lines up. Tekylun Sanders (20 tackles) and Andrew Lomack (19 tackles) lead the Colt defense. Young has 3 interceptions. Harrisburg, like Rivercrest, dropped from 4A to 3A this past year and have had a tough time getting going so far. The Hornets are 0-3 on the young season having lost to Cross County (22-0), Southside (49-13), and Trumann (36-14). QB Max Tracy has thrown for 309 yards and 3TDs. Andrew England (166 yards) and Hayden Anderson (109 yards 1TD) have led the Hornet ground attack. Harrisburg’s wideouts have been solid having been led by Jayvin Thompson (11-124yds) and Evan Henley (7-104yds 1TD). Trenton Fitzgerald (26 tackles), Henley (25 tackles), Anderson (23 tackles), and Braden Brock (22 tackles) lead the Harrisburg defense. The Colts lead the all-time series 21-2 and have won 8 in a row including 69-14 last season. Rivercrest will look to continue that trend in less than ideal conditions this evening. Make plans to be there or join us online for some Rivercrest football tonight. GO COLTS!
