IT’S GAME DAY! Your Rivercrest Colts will travel to Forrest City for what will be the first game of three straight on the road.
You don’t come across a lot of firsts after being in your 55th season as a program, but tonight will be the first time Rivercrest and Forrest City have played in football.
The Colts are 2-0 on year after beating Gosnell (29-14) and EPC (56-32). QB Cavonta Washington had an efficient and huge game last week going 16/19 for 259 yards and tied a school record with 6TD passes. He also ran for 113 yards and a score. On the year, Washington has completed 71.4% of his passes for 423 yards and 7TDs and has run for 165 yards and 3 scores. WR Buddah Harris snagged 7 passes for 133 yards and tied a school record with 4TD receptions last week. Harris leads a talented receiving corp with 176 yards and 4TDs. Jayden Young (115yds 1TD), Jakavion Williams (84yds 1TD), and Keiran Morris (67yds 1TD) round out that talented group. Tekylun Sanders has led the Colt defense so far this year with 16 tackles and 4 TFL. Andrew Lomack has 12 stops and 5 TFL. Joe Louis Ralph, in 2 weeks, has a 59 yard fumble return for a TD and a 48 yard kickoff return TD.
The Forrest City Mustangs program is led by first year coach and former NFL player, Reggie Swinton. Dakwon Scott is a true dual threat QB who leads the Mustang offense. His favorite target a year ago was Roderick Tiswell who had over 700 yards receiving and 7 scores and has 4.5 speed. Fellow wideout Jacori Buchannan is dangerous having run a 10.7 one hundred meters. OL Kylin Daniels (6’5” 300) helps pave the way for running back Kevin Young (295lb bench & 500lb squat).
Make plans to head to Smith Stadium at Forrest City, AR and cheer on the red and gray. GO COLTS!

EPC took advantage of any early turnover to give them an 8-0 lead and that's the last time the Colts would be down. On the next possession, Cavonta Washington found Buddah Harris for a 44 yard TD strike. Jakavion Williams ran in the 2 points to even the score 8-8. Both teams combined to score 45 points in the 3rd quarter. Rivercrest got it started when Washington passed downfield to Jakavion Williams and Williams jab stepped and motored the distance for a 36 yard TD to extend the Colt lead 26-8. EPC would score and get the 2 point to make it a 26-16 game. On the ensuing onside kick, Joe Louis Ralph jumped up and grabbed the kick and streaked down the right sideline for a 48 yard TD. Washington connected with Jayden Young on the 2 point and the Colts led 34-16. EPC didn't waste time as they scored 8 and made it a 34-24 contest. Washington would punch it in from a yard out with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd. Washington tossed it to Harris in the endzone for the 2 point and the Colts led 42-24. After a 37 yard punt return by Jayden Young, Washington hooked up with Harris again; this time from 13 yards out. Hunter Ellis notced the extra point and Rivercrest led 49-24. With 8:07 to go in the game, Washington found Harris once again for a 46 yard scoring pass. Deric Edgell kicked the point after to give the Colts a 56-24 lead. IT’S GAME DAY….and HOMECOMING! Your Rivercrest Colts will host the EPC Warriors this evening with kickoff scheduled for 7pm. Homecoming field ceremony begins at 6:25pm.
Despite the fact these school are less than 13 miles apart, this will be their first matchup since 2013. EPC was off last week but lost their opener a couple of weeks back 37-0 to Walnut Ridge.
The Colts are 1-0 on the season after beating Gosnell in their opener last week 29-14. Despite battling effects from being sick, senior QB Cavonta Washington threw for 164 yards and a TD and added 2 more scores on the ground. Jayden Young had 81 yards receiving including a 76 yard TD catch and snagged 2 interceptions from his safety position. Tekylun Sanders and Andrew Lomack lead the Colt defense with 8 and 7 tackles. Joe Louis Ralph had 5 tackles, 2 TFL, and forced and returned a fumble for a 59 yard score last week. K Hunter Ellis was 3 for 3 on extra points.
The Colts lead the all-time series 10-3-1 but EPC has taken the last two matchups (29-17 in 2012 and 28-27 in 2013). The Colts will look to right that ship tonight. The rain should be moving out and it looks like it’ll be a good night for high school football. GO COLTS!

The Reading Rainbows enjoyed the morning in the library listening to Mrs. Lancaster read The Sky Tree by Thomas Locker. Then the students used scratch art to make leaves to put the finishing touches on the library’s fall bulletin board.
