Football season is finally here and — IT’S GAME DAY! The Colts open their season at The TEZ is evening against an always dangerous and familiar foe, the Gosnell Pirates.
Rivercrest drops down to the 3A classification and the Colts didn’t have a game in week 0, but 4A Gosnell traveled to 5A Greene County Tech and walked out with a decisive 26-7 win to snag a 1-0 record early in the season.
The Pirates have weapons all over the field and a big physical line. Athlete Jai Jacobs ran for 77 yards and a touchdown and had a 76 yard pick-6 last week. Big-time sophomore running back, Marcus Anderson, ran for 72 yards and a score and averaged over 10 yards/carry. Bruising linebacker and short-down back (6’0” 250lbs), Vanterreus Lucas, converted several first downs and punched in a score along with making several plays on defense.
Senior Cavonta Washington threw for 2,081 yards and 24 touchdowns along with running for 359 yards and 4 more scores last season. The Colts return 3 of their top 4 receivers from a year ago — Jakavion Williams (17-262yds 4TDs), Buddah Harris (43-691yds 6TDs), and Jayden Young (19-205yds). Senior WR Keiran Morris will line up at receiver as well. Running back Tekylun Sanders ran for a score and averaged 9.8 yards/carry in limited time last year. Sanders did excel on defense where he notched 82 tackles, 19 TFL, and 6.5 sacks. Young was a ballhawk in the secondary last year having pulled down 5 interceptions to go with 70 tackles. Morris (68 tackles) and Williams (53 tackles) were productive on defense last season.
Rivercrest leads the all-time series 21-12-2, but these teams are nearly even in their last 22 games with the Colts holding a slim 11-10-1 advantage. Make your way to The TEZ tonight to cheer on the red and gray. GO COLTS!

Mrs. Teague's Retail Business class had the incredible opportunity to hear from Taylor Peters, AR FBLA District II President & State District II Vice President from Piggott High School! 👏 Taylor shared insights about her successful business, Typed by Taylor, and even gave a live demonstration of one of her specialties—permanent jewelry! 💎✨
One lucky student walked away with a permanent bracelet, experiencing the process from start to finish. We're so grateful for Taylor’s visit and inspiring our students with her entrepreneurial journey!
👀 Stay tuned—you might just see Rivercrest students offering permanent jewelry in the near future! #BusinessLeadersOfTomorrow #RetailBusiness #FBLA #RivercrestInnovation

The high school is conducting a safety drill this morning. In the event of an actual emergency, parents would be notified.

Rivercrest Ag students have been hard at work this week. The Ag Mechanics students have been busy cutting steel to help the Rivercrest Band build props for their marching routine. The Plant Science students are back at it working in the Greenhouses at the Grange in Wilson. They were learning how to use a tiller and hand tools to create a bed for planting tomatoes.

The folder also contains forms that need to be filled out and returned as soon as possible.
