A CALT is a highly trained reading specialist with a master’s degree, extensive coursework, and more than 700 hours of supervised clinical practice. These professionals are certified through the Academic Language Therapist Association and are trained to provide diagnostic, explicit, and multisensory instruction for students with dyslexia and related reading challenges.
What this means for Rivercrest families:
• Students receive targeted, research-based dyslexia intervention, aligned to the science of reading
• Instruction is individualized and progress-monitored, not one-size-fits-all
• Services meet Arkansas state requirements for dyslexia intervention and support
• Our CALTs are qualified to serve as independent dyslexia therapists, expanding support options for families
Having two CALT-certified therapists on our team is a significant step forward in ensuring every student has the support they need to grow.
This is a valuable resource for Rivercrest, and we are grateful for the expertise and dedication Amy and Leslie bring to our students every day.

ATLAS Summative scores are available the same day your child completes testing. You can access results as soon as they are released in the Family Portal: atlasportal.org/families.html
To view your child’s scores, use the access code provided at the start of the school year. If you need another copy of your access code, please contact your child’s school office.
Why this matters:
These scores give a snapshot of your child’s progress and help guide instruction, support, and future opportunities. We know students are much more than a test score. At the same time, ATLAS results are directly tied to our school letter grade. Strong performance and growth allow us greater flexibility in making local decisions that best serve our students. Growth matters.
Important reminders:
-Students in grades 3–8 who score at Level 1 in Math are required to participate in math intervention support, per state requirements.
-ATLAS scores are one factor used when considering placement in advanced classes for grades 6–8, per state guidance.
-Any student scoring Level 1 in ELA is required to complete additional dyslexia screening before the end of the school year, if not already tested, per state requirements.
We have positive incentives in place to recognize students who give their best effort and demonstrate growth. We are proud of the hard work our students are putting in.
We encourage you to review your child’s results and reach out to your school with any questions. Working together, we can support every student’s success.

Free phyicals will be conducted for students entering grades 7-12 next year and plan to participate in athletics.

We are proud to offer a strong preschool program that means so much to our families and community.
Due to recent changes in state funding, our preschool program will be adjusting our enrollment. We will be offering two options for registration: income-based and tuition pay.
There will be income based spots to help continue providing high-quality experiences for our students. Families who qualify at or below 200% of the federal poverty level will be able to attend at no cost to the family.
For families who are above that income guideline, tuition is $80 per week.
If you would like to apply for an income based spot, please bring your 1040 from filing your income taxes with you to registration on April 22. Families who prefer to pay the weekly tuition do not need to provide any income documentation.
You can view the income guidelines here:

Our commitment remains the same—to support our children, partner with families, and keep our preschool program strong for years to come. If you have questions, please contact Blaire Brown (blaire.brown@smccolts.com).
