Rivercrest 8th graders took a field trip to the Discovery Park of America museum in Union City, TN, Thursday. They were able to see and experience exhibits on many science and social studies topics they learned about this year, such as the solar system, gravity, electromagnetism, the Civil War, Native Americans of Arkansas, and the New Madrid Earthquakes. They also were able to participate in an earthquake simulation that explained how Reelfoot Lake was formed! A huge thank you to all the parents, teachers, and bus drivers who volunteered to chaperone.
Congratulations to our seniors who were recognized today during the RHS Completers Brunch. A CTE (career and technical education) completer is a student who completes three courses of study within a career focus.
Good luck to Michael Rainer as he competes today at 3pm in the long jump at the Meet of Champs in Russellville, Arkansas. The Meet of Champs is a track and field meet featuring state champions from each classification. Rainer won the 3A state championship in the long jump.

The Colts will take on Gosnell in the 3A-2 Regional Baseball Tournament Championship at 2:30pm today in Tuckerman. Go Colts!

Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound Friday, but the Colts defeated Melbourne 3-1. Joe Louis Ralph allowed just two hits to Melbourne.
Rivrecrest got things started in the first inning when Ian McClain doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Ralph led things off on the hill for the Colts. The righty allowed two hits and one run over seven innings, striking out ten.
The Colts totaled nine hits in the game. Kevin Morris, Ashtin Cagle, McClain, and Conner Vaughn each racked up multiple hits. Vaughn, McClain, Cagle, and Morris each managed two hits.
The Colts will play in the regional championship game tomorrow, May 6 at 2:30.
An induction ceremony will be held at the RHS Auditorium on Friday, May 12. The NJHS induction ceremony will begin at 8 a.m., and the NHS induction ceremony will follow the HS Awards assembly.
Students are encouraged to dress up for the occasion, no jeans, please.
Current NJH and NHS members will have their names announced and be called to the stage for a group photo. Newly inducted members will have their names announced, sign the membership book, and take a group photo on stage.
Seniors will receive their collars and cords.

Congratulations to the 2023 RHS Tenaris Merit Award recipients! Each student will receive a scholarship to further their education. In addition to the merit awards, Hadleigh Bell and TJ Scott were named as two of the five finalists for Tenaris Student of the Year. Proud of our seniors!
RHS seniors were honored tonight at the Arkansas Scholars Banquet hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
In order to be an Arkansas Scholar, students must have earned no lower than a "C" in a class for any semester in grades 9-12; had a 95% or better attendance rate; completed eight hours of community service; and completed one year of a foreign language.
Congratulations to these students who have worked hard throughout their high school careers!

Rivercrest defeated Cave City 5-0 on Thursday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
The Colts fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ian McClain doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
Conner Vaughn led things off on the pitcher's mound. The lefthander surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out nine.
Jacob Atchley led Rivecrest Colts with three hits in three at bats.
Joe Louis Ralph struck out #3 to finish off the game.

Michael Rainer is the 3A state champion in the long jump with a jump of 22'5.5". Michael's jump qualifies him for the Meet of Champs on May 10.
